Default How to play on the bubble?

I experienced my 1st bubble play yesterday in the freerollz.com sponsored freeroll. With 10 ppl (9 get paid) left we played hand to hand & I was big stacked at my table with 5 ppl left & I noticed at that point everyone started to play even tighter. I used this time to re-raise alot when no one would come in, I did pick up some chips but then I lost them when I got re-raised. I did end up eliminating the 10th person when I hit pp & he had ak & he went all in after the the flop. just wondering whats your stragedy when you on the bubble & your big stacked, medium stacked, & short stacked.

Bubble play is really a feel thing, you gotta see how the players are acting. Also it of course depends where you are at in stack sizes, and what the payout structure is.

Generally though the bubble is your chance to accumulate chips. As the big stack just keep raising nearly every hand. Fold occasionaly (when the shortest stack is blind) and fold to any resistance. Remember alot of players are just trying to cling to their tournament life, so if they reraise you that almost always means they've got the goods. If you get reraise 3 times in a that means the other players have caught on to you and are ready to stand up and fight you. Tighten up at that point and be glad with the chips you've already picked up.

Also, do not be so ready to call short stacks with mediocre hands. I have seen many big stacks lose their money by playing sheriff and calling all-ins with A3, K7, etc. Those hands are usually gonna get you into races and while winning a couple races will catapult you into a bigger lead, losing a couple races makes you a vulnerable stack again.

I experienced the same thing the other day. At this point, if im not too bad off, i will also reraise to steal some blinds. I also play uber tight unless i get a real good hand, and unless i hit a sure hand on the board. i wont really raise unless they check the whole way through and there are only one or two others in the hand.
If i am really short stacked then i will go all in when i get a good hand. AA all the way Q10 will do since the other players are normally tight. They normally fold but if they call, i have a chance to win.

Big Stack- play tight so that the small stacks can't keep doubling up off of you until you lose your chips. But not too tight b/c your the boss of the table. Just remeber that your boss.

Medium Stack play aggresive or as your normally would play. Let the small stacks get taken out and the big stacks get eaten. When you have a decent hand raise.

Small Stackanytime you have a premium hand go all in

As big stack, that was absolutely the worst thing you could have done.

Why put yourself out when you could easily have moneyed? Sure, bet big

pre-flop with your good hand, but, fold if you hit nothing. At least wait till

you money, then play aggessive again, if that is your style.
