About 3 years ago I made a $50 deposit at Pacific Poker - I honestly had no idea how to play Texas Holdem and had only played "regular poker" (the kind where you get 5 cards) for nickels and dimes while drinking at friends houses in high school.
I some how build my $50 up into $200 in a couple days playing limit poker... but then I jumped up the stakes and lost it all.
Had I had my own
http://www.neteller.com account I could have cashed out when I was at $200... but I didn't have any fast way to cash out and didn't want to wait for weeks for a cheque so I ended up losing my $$$.
Two weeks later I signed up at neteller, and made a $80 deposit. I played with it for about a week at Micro limits (like 0.05/0.10 was the largest cash game I played) and determined I was still only a break even player.
I then went out and bought a cheap poker book and read it cover to cover twice in a single weekend.
I went back to the tables a much more knowledgeable player and began playing disciplined $.25/$.50 poker. I build my bankroll up to $1000 over the next couple weeks, and moved up to $.5/$1 which I played for about 4 months.
Now I play $3/6 NL Poker a few nights a week and make about $400 a week... last week I made $2000, the week before I lost $50.
It is very easy to lose money playing poker, but if you can discipline yourself it is so fregin easy to make excellent money.
Never play drunk.
Never rush, always play in a relaxed environment.
Always play within your bankroll - if you have $100 on a site you should not be playing 1/2 NL.
Follow these 3 tips, read a good poker book or two, and have a neteller cash out so you can cash out when you feel the time is right and you'll do well
