Default Screw Tipping

why should dealers get tips? DEALERS DON'T DESERVE TO GET TIPS! so sitting down dealing cards around a table is supposed to earn you a tip? NONSENSE!

The guys that work in motels carrying heavy luggage hurting their back, those guys deserve tips. The waiters that bring you your food at restaurants, those guys deserve tips because they are under pressure! 1 slip and they embarrass themselves and get in a lot of trouble with management. Remember that food takes time to cook. It's not like dealing cards where you make a mistake you can correct it right away. You slip and the food is all over the floor with broken plates that is trouble for you.

I worked at a grocery store as a bagger. I bagged the groceries, i had to then take the cart to the parking lot and put the grocies in the customers car. I ONLY GOT LIKE 2 TIPS IN THE WHOLE YEAR I WORKED THERE, A MEASLY 5 DOLLARS COMBINED PROBABLY! So i bagged 15-20 bags with groceries, then took them to the customers car and all I got was a thanks. Many times customers opened the back door of their cars, then went to the driver's seat and sat there waiting till I put the groceries there and I closed the back door, so I didnt even get a thank you! People are so cheap it makes me angry and so do dealers who complain about tips.

Dealers like to complain about pro's not giving tips. If I were a pro I wouldn't give them tips even if I had lots of money. I would go out of my way to give tips to baggers, motel luggage boys and custodians who work in thankless jobs that most don't appreciate.

Karma?...lol yea

I see what you mean, they jus stand there and give you cards. They are there to get paid and make money from it. Thats like me working at morrisons (which i do) and random customers tipping me cash just for pointing to where the milk is and finding a price for them. Why should they expect tips when they are there doing the same as everyone else? getting paid to work...just because they ahndle our money, doesnt mean they get any of it.

This kinda ticks me off, especially when they complain. The only people id tip are the girls who serve me the free drinks and food, as well as people on holiday - waiters and hotel helpers etc

i can see what you mean about giving the dealers tips in relation to other service related jobs. but i suppose its easier to tip a dealer and keep them happy rather then passing the deck of cards round and dealing yourself. they do a job most people dont want to do so they deserve at least something, same applies for every other job mentioned though so...i dunno lol

I dont think the dealer deserves tips its not like he is helping its random how the cards are coming out so unless hes rigging and give you the nuts everyhand why are you gonna give him a tip

I agree with the people who say the dealers don't deserve tips anymore than other people who serve you in stores, resteraunts, etc. That being said, I still tip em a buck everytime I win a pot over 25 bucks or so at the 1/2 NL table.
Think about it this way, if another player notices you never tip and mentions it that will make people notice you. I for one hate being noticed at the table and I'll gladly pay a few bucks to make sure it goes that way.

To me i guess tipping is tradition. When i have the money i'll tip. When you are at the tables you don't look at the chips as money. It would be different if it were real money at the tables. I guess that is just me.

well you do have a good point. But think about it standing on your feet all day working with your hands. And most dealers don't work for that much. I bet if you were a dealer you would want someone to tip you. I know a guy who used to be a dealer and it wasn't an easy job. He has bad arthritis in his hands from shuffling cards so much.
