The one thing about tipping is that if you play the low-limits (I play mostly 1-2 NL) then it can definitely cut into your profit.

For example sometimes I'll win 100 bucks for 6 hours of play, but I figure out that between the drink girl and the dealer I tipped 25 bucks so I could have been up $125.

Sometimes I break even and realize that if I hadn't tipped I would be ahead.

And of course sometimes I lose and think, "gee, those 10 hands I actually won I tipped on or I would have money to eat." LOL

I think the dealer has a big impact on the wat the game is played. If you want a good fair game you need a good dealer who can mix the cards well.It mite not seem very hard but dealing is harder than it seems.I don't mind tipping the dealers at all.Plus think of how boring it must be for them.Sitting at the table doing the same thing over and over again.

There was one dealer who I didn't tip at all. He dealt for us about 5 times throughout the day and he was horrible. He lost concentration, couldn't keep the game moving, and just generally seemed like he was inexperienced.

And this was a holdem game. I've had slow dealers in Omaha hi-low, which is understandable (but still annoying). There is no excuse for a dealer not understanding Hold'em.

i tipped last time i was at casino but thats my choice. To say dealers should expect a tip is ridiculous. they get paid a fair wage and tips are a bonus.

It's obvious most of you non-tippers to dealers don't know how little these guys get paid. I'd be surprised if they start off with little more than minimum wage, especially if the're working for a non-unionized casino. Those working for a casino chain that's unionizd most likely make slightly more. Try and raise just a very small family on a minimum wage salary, good luck!! I'm not the biggest proponent of dealer tipping either. However, whether I win or lose at a casino, if I thoroughly enjoy myself at a specific table with the same dealer, I will tip him/her either when they leave for the day or when I leave the table. A good dealer's attitude has a tremendous effect on the table and the players. If you think the dealer was good, why not tip him/her. Let's face it, a couple of bucks or so won't break any of us. There you go, that's my two bucks, for whatever their worth to you.

One of the advantages of internet poker is that tipping is not an issue. When you're trying to beat the rake, it really cuts into profit to tip the dealer. I do it anyway, but I'm pretty cheap.
